When my mom said she was ready to consider a different living situation (as in leaving her house) I jumped on the opportunity and started researching. Things came together unexpectedly quickly. I found the community I wanted to move her into and they had a perfect "independent living" apartment. I knew ahead of time I was going to need help and had heard of companies who help downsize seniors and make the process easier. I mentioned this to the community relations person and she quickly recommended Smooth Transition of ENC. Talk about a great recommendation!

I reached out to discuss their service and was immediately impressed with the level of customer service Matt and his wife, Liz, provided from the beginning. They went to the senior community and got the floor plan then came and toured the house to get an idea of the job and what the desired outcome was. Within a few hours I had a full proposal in stages. What really cinched the deal for me was how quickly they committed to making the move happen. I originally thought it would be an all summer event, but when that unit became avaialble it accelerated our time line!

They were the intermediary for the pairing down process and kept us from getting into arguments with each other. That alone was priceless.

On top of that, they were flexible with how much of the proposal I was able to commit to, but arranged the whole process up to and including securing movers who did an amazing job with no damage. They are exceedingly well connected and hooked me up with an auctioneer for furniture we thought we could sell, various charities for things that could be donated, a wonderful vet-owned junk hauler, and even a second hand store owner who paid ME to take some stuff! Wow.

After the move, they kindly allowed me to book some additional time for some last minute things I needed help with to get the apartment functional for my mom. They've checked in with both of us since then as well. I truly appreciate and respect Matt and Liz and consider them friends after all of this! I highly recommend them. We recently retained Smooth Transitions to undertake a very sensitive move on our behalf. Matt and Liz McCoy were a Godsend to us. My younger brother has early onset dementia and had become very difficult to control. He would not take his medications as ordered and we were stymied by a non-compliant S.O. The McCoy’s took full control over moving my brother and partner to a new community that met the advice of his physicians. While I distracted the couple being moved, Matt and Liz worked in the background and moved my brother as seamlessly as possible. “They truly were a blessing to our family during this time and managing everything with care and love.”

Smooth Transitions is a wonderful company to work with and were life savers when my parents decided to move from New Bern to Charlotte. All within a few weeks, their house sold, and we had to have a new place for them to move into in Charlotte. Due to my parents age and my mother’s health, my siblings and I were concerned on how we could help my parents pack up their belongings and move to Charlotte without too many interruptions. My dad was given Smooth Transitions of Eastern NC contact information and within minutes, my father was relieved and grateful there was a company to help them with such a big task at hand. Throughout the process, they were kind, helpful, meticulous, amazing, warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and very respectful of my mother’s Alzheimer's. When the day came for them to move my parents in, they were on time, thorough, conscientious of time as well as making sure to complete everything from moving in the furniture to setting up my father’s laptop before they left. They hung up pictures, organized their closets, put up anything and everything we asked to make the move as seamless as possible.
